FAQ
What is Mid Century Modern Man?
A blog about mid century modern architecture and interior design: in-depth guides to the era's houses, rooms, furniture, and details, illustrated with real period photography. It is run independently and is not affiliated with any manufacturer.
Are you selling anything?
Not yet. A shop of vintage finds is planned. For now the site is the blog and the newsletter. When products launch, they will appear here with their own shipping and returns policies, which are published on this site in advance.
Why do the articles link to eBay?
The guides discuss real vintage pieces, and the links take you to live eBay searches for those pieces so you can see what is actually available and what it costs. They are affiliate links through the eBay Partner Network: a purchase may earn this site a commission at no extra cost to you. The Affiliate Disclosure page explains it in full.
Are the photographs real?
Yes. The photos in the guides are genuine period photographs, historic houses, and museum pieces, freely licensed through Wikimedia Commons and credited under each image. This site does not use modern showroom photos or manufacturers' catalog shots of reproductions and pass them off as period. Where no honest period photo exists for a famous piece, the guide covers it in words and says why.
How does the newsletter work?
Sign up with your email on the blog page or in any guide. You will get new guides and notable vintage finds. No spam, no selling your address, and every email carries an unsubscribe link. Addresses are stored by Shopify as customers tagged for the newsletter.
Can I use your articles or photos?
The articles are the copyright of this site; short quotes with a link back are welcome. The photographs belong to their photographers and archives and are used under their licenses, shown in each photo's credit line. Follow the license in the credit if you reuse one.
I own a mid century house or piece. Will you feature it?
Possibly. Send details and photos through the Contact page. Features are chosen for how well they teach the era, and there is no fee for being featured.
Do you buy vintage items?
Sometimes, for the future shop. If you have mid century furniture, lighting, or decor to sell, ask through the Contact page with photos and your location.
