About
Mid Century Modern Man is a blog about mid century modern architecture and interior design: the houses, the rooms, and the details that make the era unmistakable, from breeze block screen walls and Eichler atriums to pink bathrooms and sputnik chandeliers.
The guides here go deep. Each one is built around real period photography, historic houses, museum pieces, and archive photographs from 1945 to 1969, every photo credited to its photographer or archive, because the style deserves better than stock pictures and modern imitations. If a famous piece has no honest period photograph available, the guide says so and covers it in words rather than passing off a modern copy.
What you will find here:
- In-depth guides to the rooms of the mid century house: kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom, and the front door that starts it all
- Architecture explained plainly: Eichler homes, Palm Springs desert modernism, breeze blocks, and atomic age shapes
- Buying guidance with a working collector's eye, including how to get the look on a budget and how to tell Danish modern from American mid century modern
Some links in the guides point to eBay searches for the pieces being discussed, through the eBay Partner Network. If you shop through them, this site may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That support keeps the guides free and the photography honest. The full details are on the Affiliate Disclosure page.
A shop of vintage finds is in the works. Until it opens, the best way to follow along is the newsletter: new guides and notable finds, in your inbox, no spam. The signup boxes are on the blog page and inside every guide.
